A. Splendid Syria

Day 1 - Damascus

Arrive to Damascus airport. To be met & assisted by your assigned guide. Transfer to your hotel for dinner & O/N.

Day 2 - Damascus

Breakfast. An entire day dedicated to visit the attractions of Damascus, The national museum, Tukia Al Sulaimaneh a Turkish 16th century Koranic school converted into a handicraft center, The Omayyad mosque, Saladin Tomb, The folklore museum, The straight street of Damascus, St. Anania's chapel & St. Paul's window. The end of the day is highlighted by doing a nice visit to Qasioun mountain to view Damascus from a 350 mtr. above the city level. Back to the hotel for dinner and O/N.

Day 3 - Damascus/Ma'aloula/Crac de Chevaliers/Hama

After breakfast, we drive to Hama, the famous giant water-wheels town. On the way, we stop for a pleasant visit to Ma'aloula, the virgin village whose native tongue is Aramaic, the very language of Jesus Christ. Another great stop is in Crac des Chevaliers (the castle of the knights) the Crusade eagle nest whose like has never been found. Lunch is included in the top of the castle (in the king's daughter tower restaurant). Arrive to the hotel in Hama for dinner and O/N.

Day 4 - Hama/Apamea/Saladin Castle/Ugarit/Hama

After breakfast, we depart Hama for the forested mountain of the coast. Visit Apamea on the way, the splendid site which over dominates the whole gap valley. We visit the 1 mile Colonnaded street, the mosaic museum, the remains of the Byzantine cathedral & the palace. We drive on the serpent road to visit Saladin castle built on a top of a hill and separated from the surrounding hills by deep ravines cut in the rock. We proceed to Lattakia in the after-noon to visit Ugarit, a seafarers kingdom whose mighty men conquered the very east coast of American 2800 before it was discovered by Christopher Colombos. Back to your hotel in Hama for dinner and O/N.

Day 5 - Hama/Ebla/St.Simeon/Aleppo

After breakfast, we drive north to Aleppo. On the way we visit the gorgeous mosaics housed in a 17th century fabled caravanserai. Before proceeding to Aleppo we see and hear an interesting comment on the discovery of the kingdom of Ebla which yielded 17000 clay tablets of cuneiform. Arrive to Aleppo for lunch. After-noon we drive to the limestone hills to visit the imposing cathedral dedicated to St. Simeon. The picturesque view of the surrounding valley contributes a lot to the general atmosphere. Drive to your hotel in Aleppo for dinner and nice dreams O/N.

Day 6 - Aleppo

After breakfast, and to start with the city tour, a visit will be made to the unique archeological museum & to the impregnable citadel of Aleppo whose deep moat once was filled with the bodies of the Mongol upon invasion in the mid of 13th century. Continue the visit to the colorful bazaars & to the grand mosque & the old caravanserai. Back to your hotel for dinner and O/N.

Day 7 - Aleppo/Jabar Castle/Resafa/Reqqa/Deir-Ezzor

Breakfast. Today's drive is eastward to the antique eternal Euphrates river, the locals believe that this river is the gift of God to the human kind as it is one of the rivers of paradise. We visit the Abbassid castle of Jabar, then we head south to visit the ruins of Resafa which represent the summit of the renaissance era of Christianity. Continue our drive to Reqqa for a short visit. The dinner is in your Deir-Ezzor hotel. O/N.

Day 8 - Deir Ezzor/Dura Europos/Mari/Deir Ezzor/ Palmyra

Breakfast. This morning we follow the down stream of the Euphrates to get into Dura-Europos which was a fort, a caravan post and a flourishing city whose temples were dressed from the inside with fine pieces of gorgeous frescoes. Later on, we continue driving by the waterside downstream till we get to the excavated site of the 3rd millennium, Mari, the king's legendary palace was consisted of 300 rooms in which many temples, kitchens, royal quarter, administrative quarter & the oldest classroom for children were discovered. Driving to visit Ibn-Maan castle to see the sun drops over the horizon. Drive to your hotel to end the day by having a nice dinner and peaceful O/N.

Day 9 - Palmyra/Damascus

After breakfast, we do a very short driving to explore the ruins of Palmyra, the deep rooted semitic village which was grown up by the contribution of the Silk Road and climaxed by Queen Zanobia. We visit the temple of god
Bel, the archeological museum, some of the tombs, the arch of triumph & the viarecta, etc... Lunch is in a local restaurant. We continue our visit to Diocletian camp. Back to Damascus for dinner & O/N.

Day 10 - Damascus/Sweida/Shahba/Bosra/Damascus

After breakfast, we leave for a full day excursion to the most barren area in Syria to get to Sweida, Shahba & Bosra where we will visit the Roman theater, baths, lantern gate, qulaibeh, the underground market & the wind gate. Then we get to Damascus for dinner and O/N.

Day 11

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for departure.

Lunch is in a local restaurant. Hama & the archeological site of Ebla is to be visited before proceeding to Aleppo. Dinner & O/N.

Day 4 - Aleppo/St.Simeon/Aleppo

After breakfast, we go for a morning tour to see the highlights of Aleppo (the Citadel of Aleppo, the archeological museum, the Grand mosque, the soul). Lunch. Driving to the country-side of Aleppo to visit St. Simeon monastery. Back to your hotel in Aleppo for dinner & O/N.

Day 5 - Aleppo/Lattakia/Safita

After breakfast, we head west across the coastal mountains to visit the medieval castle of the Saladin. Lunch is in a nice Mediterranean restaurant in the city of Lattakia. After-noon we do a detailed visit to Ugarit, the 2nd millennium site found by the Phoenicians. Heading to Tartous to visit the Crusaders' cathedral then over to Safita village for O/N.

Day 6 - Safita/Crac de Chevaliers/Ma'aloula/Damascus

After breakfast, we visit the white Crusade tower of Safita. Drive to Crac des Chevaliers the best Crusade castle in the world. Lunch is in the king's daughter tower. We continue our visit to Ma'aloula for an after-noon visit. We get to Damascus in the early evening dinner & O/N.

Day 7 - Damascus

After breakfast, going for an entire day full of excitement. Walk in the street called straight of Damascus, see the folklore museum, see the fine collection of the national museum of Damascus and hear the story of St.'s Conversion. Lunch is in a cozy old town restaurant. Drive to the top of Qasioun mountain before your return to your hotel. Dinner & O/N.

Day 8 - Departure

Breakfast. Transfer to the airport for departure.

Day 1 - Damascus

Arrive to Damascus airport. You will be met & assisted by your assigned guide. Transfer to the hotel, dinner and O/N.

Day 2 - Damascus

After breakfast, we drive to the national museum of Damascus then head to the old quarter to visit the folklore museum, which is a typical 17th century Damascene house. We visit as well the Omayyad mosque & the tomb of the hero of Islam Saladin. Lunch is included in a local restaurant. After noon we continue the sightseeing, heading to the street called straight, St. Paul's window & St. Ananias chapel. The end of the day is highlighted by the view of Damascus from 350 meters above the city level. Back to the hotel for dinner and O/N.

Day 3 - Damascus/Palmyra

After breakfast, we depart for a long way drive to Palmyra, one of the greatest trading post on the antique Silk Road. We visit the museum, the temple of god Bel, the monumental arch, the viarecta, the agora and see some of the tower tombs, etc. Lunch is in a local restaurant. To visit Ibn Maan castle to watch the sunset. We end at the hotel in Palmyra. We check in, have dinner and go to bed. O/N.

Day 4 - Palmyra/Dura-Europos/Mari/Deir-Ezzor

Breakfast. This morning, we motor east of Palmyra to the Euphrates basin to visit the ruins of Dura-Europos, a historical town built by Seleucus Nicator. We continue the visit to the archeological site of Mari, a great kingdom flourished in the third millennium B.C. Over to Deir-Ezzor for dinner and O/N.

Day 5 - Deir-Ezzor/Halabia/Resafa/Aleppo

After breakfast, we head up stream to visit Halabia, a fort built by the Palmyreans to look after their affairs in the east. We go on to visit Resafa, a 5th century Christian holly town. You will also visit the Islamic Jabar castle & Al-Assad dam on the Euphrates. This time, we follow the sunset to Aleppo city for Dinner and O/N.

Day 6 - Aleppo

After breakfast, we leave for a full day sightseeing of Aleppo to include the
archeological museum, the citadel of Aleppo, the grand mosque. Lunch is in a nice local restaurant. We continue the sightseeing by visiting the bazaars & the caravansaries of Aleppo. Back to your hotel for dinner & O/N.

Day 7 - Aleppo/ St. Simeon/Ebla/Apamea/Hama

After breakfast, we leave Aleppo for a morning visit to St. Simeon cathedral, St. Simeon is considered the greatest hierarchy of all times. We drive vise versa to Aleppo for lunch. This after noon we motor south through the fertile country-side to visit Ebla. In Apamea, as we get there we visit the main avenue, Antony & Queen Cleopatra once strolled in this street. We continue the visit to the cathedral, the palace & the mosaic museum. Arrive to Hama for Dinner and O/N.

Day 8 - Hama/Homs/Crac des Chevaliers/Damascus

After breakfast, we depart Hama to Homs. In Homs, we visit Khaled Ibn Al-Walid mosque, Khaled is an Islamic leader, who conquered Syria in the 7th century AD. We visit also the church of Um-Alsunar, a belt found in this church said to be the belt of the virgin Mari. We continue our visit to Crac des Chevaliers. Later on we leave the castle towards Ma'aloula, the picturesque village on Qalamoun mountain. We get to Damascus with the sun. Dinner & O/N.

Day 9 - Damascus/Shahba/Sweida/Bosra/Damascus

After breakfast, we go for a full day excursion to the south to visit the basaltic hills and to view the great monuments of Sweida, Shahba & Bosra whose enormous edifices built of hard basaltic stones reveal a glorious past.
Back to Damascus for dinner and O/N.

Day 10

Breakfast. Transfer to the airport for departure.
